Julia, Jamie, Max & Ben | an end of summer family shoot at high park

I first met Julia and Jamie when she was pregnant with the babe you see in this shoot, and we did the most beautiful session together at Archive Studio when they were just a family of three. I totally fell in love with them that day—they’re just such a grounded, loving, warm-hearted family and are so aware of each other’s needs and feelings. It was so beautiful to watch them knowing when to step in with each other and provide love and support. I love being able to witness that kind of connection amongst partners and also between the parent and the child, and Julia, Jamie, Max and Ben have this beautiful dynamic between all of them.

So needless to say, I was so excited to work with them again! We had actually planned to shoot sooner, but then the babe had some health things going on during the peak of moments of Covid, in the last lockdown era, so we waited a little longer and saved it for this fall.

We went to my favourite place—High Park. (You can check out other High Park shoots I’ve done here, here, and here!) It was such a beautiful day and it was such a cool thing to see how Julia and Jamie’s relationship had shifted, having gone from being parents of one little boy to two. And Max is such a great big brother and Julia and Jamie are continuing to be these incredible parents… it just made my heart flutter to be around them. I had such a blast. I truly adore being able to work with clients time and time again—I just fall in love with each one of them and each one holds a special little place in my heart.

Also, Julia’s dress! It’s from Sleeper, and I was so in love with it. I had been coveting it for months but was on the fence, and when I saw her wearing it and how good it looked, I bought it myself. My clients always inspire me in photography, but that’s not all—they teach me lessons in parenthood, relationships, and they always have such great style. I love being able to shop through their wardrobes! (I did another shoot, with This Family Tree, who is another huge Sleeper fan. We should start a club! Check that session with Alex, Shane, Lucy & Betty, if you’re interested.)

To Julia and Jamie, thank you for allowing me to capture all the sweet little memories between your beautiful family. It’s always an honour.

Until next time—big love.
