Maddy | An outdoor floral Maternity Shoot in Arq

Have you ever dreamed something up and refused to let go on it until one day—although maybe much later than you originally hoped—it finally happened?!

This was this shoot for me.

I dreamed this session up over 10 years ago. I wanted to do it for years and years, originally thinking it would be a couples session in a bathtub with flowers but it evolved, as dreams do.

This shoot was a whole production and a total labour of love. My friend Cara supplied tub, which we needed to get to the shoot location…and it certainly wouldn’t fit in anyone’s car! So to U-Haul we went, then to the tub, and finally to where the shoot was taking place, which was two hours outside of the city. Maddy drove up to meet me separately. Then, of course, we had to set up!

The ever-so-wonderful Joanne from June Bloom Events did all the flowers. We wanted to do a bunch of floral vignettes, as you’ll see when you scroll through the images, to create a few different concepts throughout the shoot while keeping the theme cohesive. The florals were always the main focus! Although, with that said, you might notice another little theme in these images if you’re as big of a fan as I am…Shop Arq underwear. They are my absolute favourite bra and underwear brand. The most comfortable ever! I gave Maddy mine to wear for the photos and it was just the perfect finishing touch.

All in all, this shoot was just total magic. Maddy is such an incredible human being and I was so excited when she said yes to doing this shoot. She was just vibing on everything and is a total inspiration for me. Also, a cute side note that makes this shoot even more special and close to my heart—at Maddy’s wedding, her mom quoted me during her mother of the bride speech. She took one of my Instagram captions about love and quoted it, which of course made my heart completely melt.

I can’t believe I haven’t shared this shoot yet and I’m so excited to finally be posting it. If you know me (or even if you don’t) you know I love working with mamas and creating an experience with motherhood sessions. They’re not just photos, they’re memories of such a special time to cherish and look back on for a lifetime. These are definitely more of an editorial vibe, which I LOVE doing. If you want to work together on another editorial-style maternity session like this one, contact me here and we can make some magic happen.

As always, thanks for being here and reading this. All my love.

XO
